SARRI BLAMES REFEREE FOR DEFEAT

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri revealed his fury at the quality of officiating in the Premier League in the aftermath of the Blues defeat to Liverpool. the Italian had seen his club’s top four hopes taking out of their hands after goals from Sadio Mane and a wonder strike from Mohammed Salah led the Reds to a 2-0 victory.

Sarri was disappointed that the referee did not spot a foul on Emerson in the build-up to the first goal. According to Sarri, Egyptian forward Salah had fouled full back Emerson which should have been spotted by the referee as it was obvious to his coaching staff on the bench.

The Italian boss admitted that the Reds deserved to win but would be hurting from what he perceives as an injustice. Considering the situation, the tackle from Salah looked 50-50 and Emerson should be stronger when attempting to guide the ball and would have been better served playing the ball out for a corner kick.

Sarri got his tactics spot on in the first half as the Blues restricted their hosts to speculative efforts. However, he should have introduced Olivier Giroud at the Break for an ineffective Hudson-Odoi as the youngster looked overawed in the first half.

Eden Hazard looked comfortable after the switch to the left after the second goal and should have done better with two excellent opportunities. Chelsea can take positives in the performance as they really rattled Liverpool at times in the second half.

The club just needs to overturn its transfer ban and keep Eden Hazard by all means in the summer. Sarri just needs another window to build what could be a Premier League winning team next season. Chelsea are currently fifth on the Premier League table having played a game more than their rivals in the race for the top four.
